
The first forum for medical associations was held at the Al-Kawthar Centre for Nuclear Medicine in Basra Governorate, attended by representatives from more than 19 associations from various Iraqi governorates, including the Iraqi Association for Medical Research and Studies, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Medical Association, and a number of universities.
The forum featured the presentation of ten research papers addressing important topics, and included discussions on the current state of medical scientific societies and ways to enhance their roles in serving scientific research, including a proposal to form a Supreme National Committee for Research Ethics. Meanwhile, the Iraqi Association for Medical Research and Studies (IAMRS), chaired by Dr. Dhurgham Alajwady, signed a scientific cooperation agreement with the Association of Internal Medicine Specialists in
Dhi Qar Governorate, and a similar agreement with the Iraqi Infectious Diseases Society (IIDS).
