The Iraqi association for Medical Research and Studies IAMRS held an expanded national scientific webinar for Iraqi scientific journals under the title:
Iraqi Scientific Journals: Challenges and Future Prospects
The webinar was held in the city of Basra on Friday, November 20, 2020.
The webinar was attended by the representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Director of the Entrepreneurial Projects Department in the Ministry, Assistant Professor Dr. Youssef Khalaf Yousef, in addition to dozens of editors of Iraqi scientific journals and university professors.
The first session of the webinar included six lectures presented by editors-in-chief of scientific journals, professors from various Iraqi universities, and officials of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The second session included an expanded panel discussion on the challenges and future prospects of Iraqi scientific journals, methods of overcoming obstacles, raising the level of academic publishing and keeping pace with the foundations of scientific publishing in international journals.
The discussion sessions resulted in important decisions that were submitted to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research after they were adopted by all members participating in the webinar.
The webinar was covered by many media outlets, considering it the most prominent event in Iraq regarding medical journals.
